This is quite amazing to me; even if the oppenheimer rumor is true ( which others have told me it is not), there will be many brokerage houses with quite lenient margin requirements for internet stocks. No brokerage house will ever impose 100% margin requirements on all internet stocks; for every house that does there will be a dozen brokerages with a much more lenient policy. It's a competitive world out there, guys; they all want the business.

Stiltz, I didn't mean to infer that all brokerages would go 100% - you're quite right about competitiveness - and the usual thing that things often get overdone one way or the other, then comes back to some inbetween point where they find an 'equilibrium' for a time period
