Hi Shalom, I hope you have been blessed with a great day. On our topic of watchmen and cults I had mentioned my belief that they should be monitored by law enforcement agencies. You commented "...I believe they should be monitored by the watchmen that God has appointed. That is one reason watchmen were appointed. Who are the watchman, but the church of Jesus Christ. Let the world take care of it's own affairs and the church of Jesus Christ its own affairs. " What is your opinion of Romans 13 as it relates to the subject 1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God : and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil . Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. 5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. My thought is that God has appointed people to specific callings within the civil service, positions of government for His purpose wether or not they are a Christian. I believe that police officers would fall in this category as laid out in these verses from Romans and are relevant to our conversation concerning watchmen over cult activity. That is not in any way to say that they are saved by reason of their occupation but God has ordained these positions and calls them ministers for good. If that is the case, they are ordained in place as watchmen concerning protecting people against evil and are all the more accountable to God if they behave unrighteously as per Romans chapter 2. This is one of the reasons I believe in constant prayer for the leadership of our country on all levels and the police. Are these positions at times misused? Of course. Good laws can be twisted to criminal advantage as can positions of authority. Evil dictatorships can arise and will arise prophetically practicing acts contrary to God's laws. Pharaoh is an example with God using this man for his purpose to demonstrate His deliverance and judgment upon Egypt. Your thoughts my friend? In Christ, John
