You place too much expectation in wireless. There's no threat there indefinitely into the future. The reason is the solar constant. Ceteris paribus that puts wireless at a permanent disadvantage. Neutrino transmission from permanent space stations is a possible refutation in the 22nd century, but that is getting a little too far ahead.

You can't beat the economies of scale of waveguides. The cost of construction is one-time, fixed. Once the earth is properly wired with Pure, not HFC junk, higher bandwidth is only a matter of developing more advanced optical pumps. With wireless you have the ever-recurring high cost of satellite replacement. You also have to be concerned about space junk which fails to vaporize on re-entry. There is the issue of the bomb on the launch too. In the future people will laugh themselves silly thinking about how dumb all these primitive pseudo alternatives were. They will say, "why did anyone think that looking to the past would supply an answer for the future?"
