I believe you are referring to 300 mm WAFER size.

Intel has been HOT for this for many years, but the equipment availability - exaggerated by the ASIAN economic crisis - has kept delaying this decision.

My guess - or rather hope - is that Intel boot straps (Invests) a few companies that they need to complete the line 300 mm processing equipment and goes for "broke" some time in the next 12 months.

Of course, even under the best of circumstances, that would still result in 300 mm production 3 or 4 years from now.
