Marketing Management entails everything from the time the concept or idea is born until the consumer has the product in their hands. It is one thing to have the concept(IE Internet auction site or e-commerce site)but the true worth and future of the company are truly dependent on the last step......Getting the product to the consumer in a timely and efficient manner. This will lead to repeat sales.
In my opinion the company who establishes an efficient down line with efficient lines of distribution will eventually become the fore runner in the e-commerce game.I say this as repeat sales are going to be paramount to the success of the e-commerce model in the longer term.
In the short term all companies are going to experience sales as people warm to the idea of on-line shopping. The novelty of it more than anything. The true determining factor will be the repeat selling and lines of distribution are important.Delivery will be extremely important.
As waldo said in an earlier post(regarding delivery) I expect that the model that accounts for efficiency will surge ahead and those which are weak will become takeover targets.
I also suggest that the first yearly sales figures these companies generate will determine their longevity.FWIW that is MHO.Good Luck all.
