Statistics show that on the average a stock achieves the bulk of its gains in an amazingly few number of days in a year (I think it's less than 10 days). For this reason, very few traders are able to beat a long term value investor. I used to trade frequently and learned in the school of hard knocks that this method does not work for me. My commissions were greater than my gains.
