Tom, The other piece of flim-flammery that MU used to make the numbers add up was to not disclose the 18% rise in overall ASP. You will notice that Niles used a 5% gain for 16mb and 8% for 64mb. Apparently they were able to sell a lot of 16mb chips on the spot market. So the 10% decline in bits shipped, coupled with 18% better ASP is roughly revenue equivalent to a 10% increase in bits and 8% increase in ASP. Niles probably worked backwards to calculate the 16mb ASP number that fit the numbers MU gave out.

and we all know how the dram game is so leveraged so a 17% delta is HUGE!
