Donald: Thanks for the post. (See my PM.) I will be reviewing your post and getting back to you as in the old days, later today!

I have to get some work done on one of my cars today, while the Market is down...seems they work better if you drive them occasionally...<g>

Regards,
LG

Donald, stick to your guns, I may not always agree with you, but do not let those verbal pugilists drag you into their game, just disregard them and they disappear. That is the only way to handle them, use the NEXT button when you see their posts.

Good luck.

Zeev

Donald, I am concurring with your asessment from a different angle. I think that the week of Jan 25 will tell the story as it is closely correlated to the 401K contribution.

My basic assumption are that the market capitalization including new IPO's is expanding faster than the personal free income of the US workforce.

In addition the SE Asia markets are again attracting fresh funds into their market. No new money is coming there from local investors as they are all strapped of cash.

This rally is getting narrower by the day and the Internet Mania hit the front pages of almost every publication.

Aside from that several TA events are gathering toward the end of the month and we may see a double top.

In general there is to much of an agreement as to DOW 10,000 and above underlined by the reflex rally of Friday.

I was wrong before so I may be wrong now, but my 2 cents are that free income is not growing at the same pace as the market.

Don,

It is unfortunate that you have had to go through the attacks from individuals who disagree with you. This is exactly the type of behavior that has driven away many excellent SI poster on various threads. All I can say is that I enjoy reading your market analysis. If you decide to stop posting here, I would like it if you included me on a mailing list for those who appreciate your updates.

For those who choose to attack without a basis, please understand that statistical analysis provides only an estimate of the probability that an event could happen in the future. It does not guarantee that the event WILL happen. I guess there are plenty of people around who do not really understand what probabilities and statistics mean. These are the same people who are making the Lottery a huge success in this country.

As requested:

Built wedges for both the DJIA and the SPX using the intraday highs on 8/19/98, 1/8/99 and the lows on 10/8/98, 12/14/99 for both.

Wedge intersections

DJIA on ~ 2/23/99 @ 9930
SPX on ~ 2/13/99 @ 1320

Fork intersections of upper vector and lower wedge lines for both:

DJIA 2/2/99 @ 9516
SPX 2/4/99 @ 1289

BTW the fork line on the SPX is just slightly positive .. ~0.614 points/day.

Don, forget about those who attacked you. It always happens no matter where you go and may happen more the better you become. Au contraire, it is a contrarian barometer of how good you are by which you should feel proud of yourself and the efforts you made. You don't have to go into a verbal fight with them because it is not worth it and you don't have the time. In other words, they are the "xiao ren" ("little people") and you are the "jun zhi" ("gentleman") and in Chinese we say "Jun zhi bu yu xiao ren dou" ("A gentleman doesn't fight the vagabond"). So, go reward yourself with a Qingdao beer and fun-cooking a dish with your favorite recipe (Hey, what happened to the weekly recipe you promised? I have been missing them) and as always, I am on your side.

Don, I am a lurker on this thread but an ardent admirer of your posts. I have profited many a time because of your timely posts and am greatly indebted to you. Besides that, your modest and extremely polite nature makes one wonder how anybody could attack you. Please always keep me informed as to where you post.[jairj@nauticom.net].
Good Luck,
J.

Don--I am also a lurker on this thread that would miss your commentary and INDEX UPDATES a great deal. I rarely go to bed at night without reading your UPDATES. I usually sleep better because of it. I suggest reading Epictetus, one of the early Stoics(recently popularized in Tom Wolfe's new novel, MAN IN FULL.) He would advise to stay with your course and ignore the rabble. Good luck with whatever you decide. Myron

Donald if I followed your instructions properly, I show the intersection at 9520.44 on 2/8/99. Using Semi Log the intersection is 9551.97 on 2/3/99. Now I may not have drawn this properly so maybe someone else can jump in here with their take.

BTW, now let me ask a dumba question. What is the significance of that date and value?

Monty

Donald,

I too am sorry to hear of your negative experiences.
I've been on the Net for about twenty years and
experienced what you describe many times - still
learning to let it go "like water off a duck's back".
Hope you can too, as it offers the most flexibility
and let's us benefit from your participation, but
best wishes whichever way you go.

Dave

Donald,

I have just read sixteen posts to your INDEX update this morning and it appears to me you have a lot of positive people on your side...
I would hope that the positive out weigh the negative.

If you are planning a mailing lists, please include mine which is swantec@wt.net. Now back to finishing your post..

Good Trading,
