Lucent Unveils Internet Telephony Solution For Svc Providers

MURRAY HILL, N.J. (Dow Jones)--Lucent Technologies Inc. (LU) unveiled its PacketStar IP
Gateway 1000, PacketStar IP Gatekeeper and PacketStar IP Manager products.

The products, which are slated for release at the end of February, allow service providers to deploy
Internet protocol networks to carry voice and fax calls.

In a press release Monday, Lucent said the PacketStar IP Gateway 1000 is based on its PortMaster
4 integrated access concentrator platform and ComOS operating system.

The PacketStar IP Gateway 1000 is priced at $325 to $600 per port, depending upon configuration.

The PacketStar IP Gatekeeper is a stand-alone gatekeeper with a centralized database. It provides
authentification, call routing and billing support. The PacketStar IP Gatekeeper, which includes
hardware and software, is priced at $150,000.

The PacketStar IP Manager is a graphical user interface used to manage the network. This hardware
and software package is priced at $45,000.

Seems very likely...but
as of Sept 30, 1998, there were 1,316,394,169 "Issued and outstanding shares" with a maximum of 3,000,000,000 shares (as you mentioned).

It seems they have enough room to split 2:1 now (and have 2.6 billion shares out). They are definitely planning a split -- maybe 4:1 ???

Where are the shares for the ASND purchase coming from?
