Sure, you're right -- Alexander VI for instance (what a clutch he had, the Duke, Lucretia, and Cesare (my and Machiavelli's joint hero) -- his motto "Aut Caesar, Aut Nihil" (Caesar or Nothing!)
I meant to limit the discussion to celibate popes, not a small population over time I think.
