Duisenberg sees no danger of stock market bubble

BRUSSELS, Jan 18 (Reuters) - European Central Bank President Wim Duisenberg said on Monday he saw no risk of a stock market bubble developing in the euro zone.

''We follow that (issue) carefully, we monitor it carefully and we have come to the conclusion that for the time being this is not developing into a bubble which could burst suddenly or unexpectedly,'' he told a European Parliament subcommittee.

''Also in the U.S. they have come to the same conclusion,'' Duisenberg added, noting U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan was no longer repeating his 1997 warning about ''irrational exuberance'' in the stock market.
