I have never before seen a recommendation that the fastest device in the SCSI chain should be last.

Allen,

Thanks for the reply. At least now I know that I'm not thinking totally in left field. Common sense tells me that the performance of the Jaz drive should not be adversely affected by a device further down the chain, but who am I to argue with the Iomega engineers?

Perhaps my Jaz drive is, indeed, running slower with this configuration....but since I can't distinguish nanoseconds anyway, I can't tell the difference. I think I'll leave things the way they are. *g*

Dave

p.s. Isn't technology fun? Can't wait to get my hands on the Agfa ePhoto 1680 camera I ordered.

"I have never before seen a recommendation that the fastest device in the SCSI chain should be last. "

This is true of any daisy chained connection. The higher bw device produces higher frequency components which sum from reflections back and forth on the transmission line and are minimized if terminated at the end of the chain.
