The Siemans Announcement is significant. Siememans ships a great deal of product and should give a nice little pop on Tues to LSI barring any Market collapse. My guess is that we boune off of upper resistance of 25 by fri. IMO

It stretches my imagination to guess what 'significant' chips LSI will have in PSII if Toshiba takes over CPU and embedded graphics/video memory. What else can it be? Hardware MPEG-2 for DVD? Might be, but at this point I would not call that 'significant'.

Or perhaps something that blows anybody's mind like cable-modem for networking/net access? That should be something that LSI can do but Toshiba can't; good IP stuff. If that is the case, that win is not only huge but very significant.

Dreamcast if I remember right has modem included. If Playstation II will not be released for another 18 months (thanks to the links provided), cable modems should be quite widely available by then. Imagine playing networked games with your cousin who is all the way across the country for no extra charges at cable modem speeds and 1024x768 resolutions on a HDTV!! Wow!! That should blow everything away.

Well, one can only hope.

Just a note from an earlier post....when I was at CES in Vegas last week, an LSI employee told me that the current processer in Playstation would be backward compatible. What that means I'm not exactly sure? Hope it means LSI does the brain again! But that's not the most important thing I learned from LSI reps at the show. One of the reps made at comment to me about something brewing between LSI and Thomson Cunsumer Electronics. He caught himself before he said anything further, remarking that he shouldn't be saying anything. I kinda got the feeling that he let something slip. I read this weekend that Microsoft and Thomson Electronics are revealing their joint plans for an interactive TV set that will be on the market by the end of this year. VERY BIG!!! Maybe LSI will make the chips for these sets? I don't know....and I'm not a rumor spreader...but....if it comes to pass, remember this post!

Moonray,

Wake up!!!!!

LSI breaking out. I think it is finally getting the attention it deserves. UP 1 9/16 to 23 3/16.

I think that the Siemens news has a lot to do with it and Siemens was breaking out in Europe today also.
