OT **** so is there any way for a nefarious person to circumvent the "trust applet" pop up deal
it seems I have gone to a site and it just loaded what was on there including applets...do I have a setting that might say accept all applets?

You may have a setting like that, however it should be 'off' by default. So far there's no way for a person to circumvent the 'trusted applet' pop up thing. Most applets aren't 'signed' though, and therefore won't pop up that box. Of course, without that box, they don't have access to your files, etc ... and can't do any damage.
