<<For example, why did they choose to report such large earnings last quarter?

Maybe CMGI wanted to get on the "map".

Personally I have had CMGI bookmarked on SI, for 8 months but like an idiot it was one of the bookmarks I never clicked on.... so now in the past 2 months they have become recognized as a potential "formidable" stable of internet stocks. Last earnings sure got my attention.

For me, I hope they dont continue to report "blockbuster" earnings, because that is a sign they are selling off more stock. I would prefer they hold their stakes, because that to me is why CMGI is so attractive.. its a small mutual fund. Its a great way to play LCOS and GCTY with 25 other small internet companies all rolled together.

A 2nd reason for the blowout earnings is they wanted to be recognized and get "fair value" for their stock. With a higher share price acquisitions become "cheaper" (i.e. they can buy companies with their stock and not dilute as much, as opposed to a share price of $40)

Just some food for thought... no idea what management is thinking, but personally I disagree with the person who said their business plan is weak.
