Why did SSB downgrade Apple?

Here's a theory... (from infoxczar.com

An anonymous Apple employee contacted us to note that, prior to the downgrade, Apple changed their default broker for the Employee Stock Purchase Plan and their Employee Options program. The new broker is eTrade, and the old one was... Salomon Smith Barney. Hmmmm... Thousands of Apple employees no longer doing business with Salomon Smith Barney-- is there a bitter taste in the air? Do we hear the distant sound of an axe grinding? It's purely hearsay at this point, but it's an interesting theory, nonetheless...

Exactly my point, except that I stated the situation with a great deal of optimism.

Hard, stock moving data will probably not be out until at least the second week in February. My contention is that investors will [correctly] expect the product cycle upgrade to affect 2nd quarter consensus to the positive. Despite the public show of caution on AAPL, there is a groundswell of awe developing around this company. Investors are waking up to the fact that Apple is making money, building cash reserves, and gaining market share. Many are wondering where Steve will stumble. Others are just wondering when is the best time to get in for the best ROI short term. I expect there to be enough of the latter to bid the stock up in anticipation of the January unit sales survey reports.
