When these nay sayers speek of the mania they seem to forget that when a revolution occurs that new companies turn into giants in niches that didn't exist. The E commerce phenomenon is real. The number of people going on line is growing fast. The number of goods and services available over the net is increasing very fast. The fact that people get better information pricing and a broader array of products and even independent product reviews is fueling the first stage of thrusters. The number don't lie the fact that I can buy and sell stocks on the net at a fraction of "full service" brokers, have access to ipo's get e mail confirmations special rates for affiliate companies and soon be able to buy and sell stock option buy mortgages insurance etc etc 24 hrs. a day around the globe is in facty a revolution. The second stage burners are getting ready to be lit as broadband rollout this year will make real time video show rooms conference calls etc a reality. The playing field is being leveled by technology an instant access to all of real time news. EGRP is one of the Gorillas of the next millenium. My Alex Brown broker friend didn't even understand what EGRP was or did until I sat down and told him he better start thinking of other day jobs. This is true for insurance saleman and many other middle men whose job was to hold the hand of the client and then sell them what they wanted to sell not what the customer necessarily wanted to buy.....the times they are a changing!! What will EGRP sales and earnings be in the yuear 2k ?
Novo/Ironlight Interactive to Create Global Web Presence for E*TRADE
PR Newswire - January 18, 1999 05:54
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- E*TRADE Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: EGRP), a recognized authority in online investing services, has selected Novo/Ironlight Interactive, a leading interactive services agency, to create and deploy its multi-lingual Web sites in several international markets.
"Of the 37 agencies we reviewed, Novo/Ironlight Interactive demonstrated that their depth and breadth of expertise was best suited to meet the challenge we handed them," said Pamela Kramer, vice president of product management and development for E*TRADE. "Because we plan to redefine the way investors around the world manage their finances -- with a flexible Web presence that features relevant localized content, a local language and, ultimately, cross-border investing, it is critical that each site is culturally specific while building and maintaining the E*TRADE brand and quality standards. Reliability, accountability, security, and speed are just as important to us as the creative design. It's a tall order."
As the Web development agency for such internationally prominent companies as Toyota, Levi Strauss Slates(R) brand, Sony, IKEA, Motorola, and Avery-Dennison, Novo/Ironlight Interactive has a history of successfully managing complex Internet initiatives. "We are uniquely capable of helping E*TRADE succeed with this exciting expansion," noted Kelly Anthony Rodriques, CEO of Novo/Ironlight Interactive. "With our proven international brand expertise, seasoned management teams, and extensive client service capabilities, we are poised to position E*TRADE as the dominant global financial services brand for the Information Age."
Slated to create several E*TRADE sites around the world over the next two years, Novo/Ironlight Interactive is approaching each site with customized features, local language content, a unique graphic look, and streamlined navigation -- all designed to make the user experience culturally comfortable. "Since few things are more serious than one's money, it is also critical that we convey a sense of empowerment and stability on each Web site," noted Rodriques. "We respect the local visitors' expectations about the Internet, and are taking into consideration their experience with navigation and design conventions, as well as download speeds."
Novo/Ironlight Interactive's first international Web sites for E*TRADE are expected to launch in the winter of 1999.
