Great point, Cheeky. It's basically what I tell people all the time: Think about what you would do if the power went out and you had little or no information about how long it might be out (I live in blizzard-country, too). Y2K, ...whatever. It's still a good exercise in planning and considering what a person's options might be. Sure beats freezing your butt off and not having any food. But it (being caught without minimum provisions/preparation) happens frequently to lots of people.
