On the other hand, remember that Intel themselves has an investment in Red Hat Linux, mainly to hedge their bets.

If it goes public then I, too, will investment in it. At least a small amount as hedge.

Linux is pretty cool but so far it's only for us geeks.

RE: Linux on the desktop.

I had dinner with a Chinese national tonight. He is a system integrator. He stated that in China, the predominant desktop OS is SCO Unix, not Windows. He believes that Linux will quickly supplant SCO as the desktop OS.
