"...you might want to tell us just how many K7 wafers AMD would have to start before you considered it "production"."

nobody asked me but so what...

If they're shooting to ship a few hundred thousand chips along with their announcement in late q2, my back-of-the-envelope calculation says that it would be ~25 lots/per week, assuming 25dpw yield on a full production(no test chips) mask set.

but then again what the hell do i know...

Re: "Eh, Elmer...ah...don't be surprised if production has already started on the K7. You're getting warm Elmer, hinty, hinty, winky, winky. "

I wouldn't be surprised, I'd be astonished. AMD wouldn't be stupid enough to go into production with a part that hadn't even benefited yet from the feedback from their beta testers. They wouldn't be that stupid, would they???? Hint hint wink wink...

Re: "Of course perhaps you might want to tell us just how many K7 wafers AMD would have to start before you considered it "production"."

Just 1 that would produce die that would end up in a system sold by one of AMD's customers to a retail enduser who would use it in a realworld application.
