I believe that you are not strictly correct. Perhaps you meaning that they would not intentionally ship parts that did not execute all codes correctly. It is simply not possible to know or test this. Is it not true that multliply not work on a Intel chip? Is not this an X86 instruction? All shippng CPUS have some bugs known by the manufacturer. The multiply bug was a critical one, but most are benign. Most of the bugs in production CPUS are not op-codes that execute incorrrectly, but rather hardware related. However, in prototype CPUS you may still see op-code errors in esoteric functions.

AMD would be in full production if there were no bugs. I believe that not I have said precludes them from being in normal production by June. They just are not done with development yet. They will have the "formal introduction" when they are ready to produce. The next formal introduction is for the K6-3 (Feb 24) and the K-7 will be at sometime, hopefully soon, thereafter.

The K-7 is truly great chip and bringing truly great chips into production takes time. For the very same reason, we can know that Intel can pop out a quick new design in response to the K-7. Some time in the next few months we should see "leaks" of concrete performance data. Then we have a completed design that may enter pilot production.
