Most likely for a first look. When the K6-2 initially came out, a small website said they would have a review posted the day of its release. They stated they couldn't post the review any earlier because of an NDA. Anand didn't have to worry about one because he got his K6-3 from an OEM. I wonder where www.firingsquad.com got their PIII from. Probably an OEM.

The true test of 3D NOW! vs SSE will probably be Quake Arena. That game is supposedly designed around SIMD instructions.
