I need to find out if the ASUS P2B BIOS will allow the LS-120 to be a bootable A drive.

It is bootable on the ASUS P2B according to the manual. LS/ZIP,C is one of the boot options listed in the bios settings.

It won't be the 'A' drive in Win95. The drive is on the IDE controller and Win95 wans it's A drive to be on the floppy controller. It will/can appear as the A drive in NT.

Emory,
>They've told me that the I-Storm is rated at 26db. The p/s you chose is rated at 34db. I'm trying to imagine what the noise would be like if I had the same p/s and the I-Storm. That's 60db for the two. Do you happen to know if that's getting up into the vacuum cleaner range?<

Yeah, I saw the I-Storm cooler last year and have kept it in the back of my mind just in case <g>

RE: vacuum cleaner...
30dB is about the level of a soft whisper a few feet away.

Just imagine if installing (4) fans in your PC meant: 4 x 30dB = 120dB ...?
It doesn't work that way, in reality 120dB is equivalent to a jet engine 200ft away.

Doubling the number of fans does not double the sound intensity dB level -- we're talking logarithms here -- it would increase the apparent level by only 3dB.

If it were true, Zeuspaul had better prepare his PC for take-off --instead of using it to vacuum the house.

>is this the type of fan that the RPM's can be monitored (by the m/b software)?<

These fans only have the power cable w/adapter that let them tap into a drive power cable, they don't have the other cable that plugs into a MB for monitoring.

>I'm looking at the Engineer's drawing from the Addtronics web site. Is the fan mount location you refer to above the p/s?<

I grabbed that drawing by mistake, it's the full blown '7890A Server Tower' case.

My '6890A ATX Tower' is the next size down, without the extra fan opening above the power supply, and minus a couple drive bays:
addtronics.com
On mine you can see the holes for the smaller fan above the i/o connector back panel.

Table of specs: addtronics.com
(the website needs a little organizational attention)

>I'm thinking that the Addtronics 3890A mid-tower will probably be big enough for my needs. The only drives I've identified that are going to be internal are the HDD, a CD/DVD and an LS-120. I'd been considering an ASUS P2B-S but after reading many posts on this thread, I'm starting to wavier as to whether I need to go with SCSI Ultra 2. I might go with the ASUS P2B instead. Either way, I need to find out if the ASUS P2B BIOS will allow the LS-120 to be a bootable A drive.<

Double check the size of the mother board you choose, the P2B-S is slightly larger and may be a tight squeeze in a smaller case -- circuitry in the upper right corner (RAM) could hit a drive bay.
(In my case the lowest internal drive bay bracket can be taken out if it should be in the way of the MB.)
Thats why I got a larger case, more space/mounting options in the future.

>>After reading the graphic cards comparison I'm leaning towards the ASUS V3400TNT/TV card.<

Check with ASUS about proper multi-monitor operation for the OS of your choice if you think you might want to go that route.
