Kash: <<If they can only do 350/400 for k-3>>

In CC, Jerry said the following in regard to K6-3:
k6-3 450 @intro in Q1
big volume of k6-3 in Q2
more than 50% of output in Q4 will be k6-3.

From the tone of Jerry's discussion on k6-3, my impression is that k6-3's volume in Q1 would be less than your 350/400K. Maybe somewhere around 100K.

As to K6-2, he said "vast majority of Q1 output will be above 350, with heavy population in 400." Further, in responding to J Moore of G&S, Jerry implied 400K of k6-2 @400 mhz on monthly basis is possible.

Other than the salvation to be provided by k6-2 450 and k6-3 in Q1, the driving force of stablizing and possibly increasing ASP in Q1 depends on how agressive Intel will pursue celeron 366 and 400's price point.

kash, RE:speed ramp and k-3 volumes biggest AMD risks

To me, the biggest risk is that Intel will release the Pentium III early, and AMD will be a couple weeks late.

A 400/450 duo of k-3 will do wonders for AMD.
But it must beat the PIII to market. A 350/400 intro for K6-3 is a no-go. If that happens, I'm out. But I'm virtually certain of initial speeds of 400/450, possibly even 430/450. The two "engineering samples" that have been benchmarked on the Internet were 2.2v and marked 400 and 450 MHz, respectively.
