True,

on throughput most don'y need it for home. a 100M hub is fast for most all home uses. I am far from a normal user. I ended up buying a Asante FS4008E for $410. 100M half duplex is a huge gain over 10M half. The rest is fluff for most. but I do networking for a living. One guy I know has a T1 and 2 fully populate 18" Racks of routers at home where he does much of his work. people are crazy!!!

Sean

Spots, are you building a couple of machines, or just decided to spring for a spare g200? What's the scope of your latest project (if you've answered already, just point me to the post.)

Ain't buying new stuff fun? <g>

FWIW, I've been very happy with the Xpert 98s I bought for these systems. Picture quality is, to me, indistinguishable from the g200s (that is to say, excellent.) I also very much like the DPMS capability in NT.

I think you'll be pleased with your g200s. $89 is still a good price for this card.

g200 news: apparently new .25 micron parts shipping

Spots, you might check to see whether your new cards have heatsinks on them. Seems like newer parts are all .25 micron, after a recall (though Matrox won't confirm.) This would explain the recent shortages for this board, despite that the fact that it's been out for many months. See

matroxusers.com

for a discussion.

Dave
