Exactly my point Dusty. Even with all the exposure to Western Culture, it hasn't been successful in changing the minds of the people to seek freedom. The French tried it in Vietnam, turning Saigon into Paris East. Later we tried it as well. But in the final analysis, the name of the town is Ho Chi Minh city. Just a thought, but it is probably the fact that the roots of the region are primarily agrarian based and used to dictatorial control for thousands of years(all those Dynasties you know) that make it so easy for tyrants to thrive.
