Actually, ~10 degrees or so every thirty minutes when the raw temp is minus 30 or 40 degrees below zero (f.) and the windchill is minus 80 or 90 degrees below zero is not unreasonable, even in a well-constructed house with 2x6 walls and good insulation.

Granted, many people can hardly imagine what a raw temp of zero is like, much less minus 30 degrees.
