<I think Perry said they got 1000MHz in the top 20 markets.>

Here's some WNP statistics only.
On top of these, Nextband won A-block licenses (1150 MHz) in 13 markets and B-block licenses (150 MHz) in 39 markets.

"In addition, our licenses cover the most attractive markets in the country. We have more than 91 percent of the population in the top 12 markets, and more than two-thirds of the pops in the top 75 markets," Mr. Jones said.

WNP was the top winner in the LMDS auction in terms of spectrum, top markets, and population:

* 41 percent of the total A-block spectrum won in the auction -- 3.4 times the spectrum of the second largest winner.

* 37 percent of the overall spectrum (A-block and B-block) -- 2.5 times the spectrum of the second largest winner.

* 11 of the top 12 markets -- including the A-block license in 1O of the top 12 markets.

* 30 of the top 50 markets -- including the A-block license in 29 of those markets.

* 114 million "pops" (population within the license areas) -- including 98 million pops of A-band licenses (based on 1998 estimated population).

* An average of more than 1000 MHz of spectrum per pop.

PS Also re "Anyone find a recent reference to the number of channel pops WCII currently claims?"

I just went back and looked.

In March after the LMDS auction, WinStar claimed "over 1 Billion" channel pops. Since then they bought the spectrum from CVUS (8M pops x 8.5 channels=68M chan-pops). I don't remember if they've been awarded any other licenses since March or not. But they're probably somewhere in the 1.1B channel pop neighborhood.

Note;
Nextlink paid approx $1.72 per channel pop for WNP
WinStar paid approx $2.09 per channel pop for CVUS's licenses.
