Surprise! Loss report is out. Still no Y2K revenues! Loss is smaller but shares outstanding ballooned! News must have leaked out Friday, explaining the drop in price.

Agreed. If a high enough proportion of shorts are going to short to zero then the occasional squeeze will not stop the erosion. Scammers may be out of it but the hopeful will start selling to each other and slowly it drains away down to $1.
