For some reason everybody's missing the point. Could it
possibly be MY explanation? ... naw <ggg>.

I absolutely agree that restoring a tweaked environment is
EXTREMELY time consuming (high cost). It is worth ongoing
effort to be able to restore that quickly by my cost
table, as well as everyone else that's weighed in on
the subject. It takes me weeks to restore my working
environment from scratch.

I am NOT talking
about a tweaked environment; I'm talking about a backup
OS which is used ONLY for recovery and/or possibly other
minor maintenance of the primary, was built with minimum
components, and is rarely if ever updated.

PS. I work on two machines routinely, with, naturally,
a third elsewhere in the house as backup <g>. Also
