Esterina, I think you may be correct about buy outs from U.S. companies, although not necessarily Internet companies per se. Time will tell.

As for your suggestion that "Canadians don't want to buy and pay duty and bigger shipping costs" goes, you'd be surprised at the number of people I know who do all the time. Amazon is hugely popular up north here and even though shipping costs are slightly higher, (duty often included in shipping price by the way) the turn around times are excellent. It's not uncommon for a person to order from Amazon on a Monday and have delivery before Friday even in Canada!

If a U.S. online retail store were to buy out BII or any other site for that matter, they would probably offer Canadians the ability to order and pay for merchandise in Canadian dollars therefore eliminating the concerns you raised. Make no mistake about it, U.S. internet companies are WAYYY ahead of the game here, and this latest tactic by BII management in eliminating bids on their site smells like a desperate ploy to salvage the operation. Things must be worse than I thought over there!!
