Why can't they do all that stuff on their own? All those xcit eyeballs can't use ATHM till they get ATHM service.

Sigh ... yes ... but as a developer I find it hard to swallow the idea of paying 3.5B for some code and relationships that could be reproduced for 1/10th the cost.

What's the value of being the #2 portal?

What's unique here? Where's the unique value?

This along with AOL's deal with Bell Atlantic appears to set the stage for an AtHome vs AOL war. Fortunately, they will both prosper for some time.
