If the reports are correct, and $6 bil is the price for XCIT, then IMO AtHome is spending a huge premium to get into the portal biz; sortof like Murdoch buying the Dodgers...

The price of poker just went up, Howard. Where it leaves YHOO is anybody's guess, but nobody's gonna plunk down +$20 bil for a former market leader that now is fighting (Disney, AT&T) way out of its weight-class. But the Yahooligans pay no attention to stuff like this, so the sucker could probably climb, even though by all rights this news should cost YHOO 50 instant points at the opening.

The USNews cover story puts more oil on the water, though. And isn't AtHome a bit of a ponzi-scheme company itself? Shades of Ziff Davis, perhaps?
