Its kind of hard to calculate what exactly it does to current shareholders because they say new shares will be issued. How many exactly is important, but long term IMO it is irrelevant.I would have preferred the split and then go after a portal but there might be none left by that time. Another way to look at it for being the number 2 portal excite seems cheap compared to Yahoo(even at 6 Bil). With @home and T behind excite,it seems like an excellent combination. It leaves us definitely in a stronger position to duel with AOL and others that now may merge. I had though for a while than management might conceive this scenario but with Yahoo. Obviously Yahoo's market cap was the one thing that stood in my scenario. I am a shareholder in @home and the long term synergies seem to fit perfectly in my opinion. Glad to hear opposing views.
