<< Who is to say that dropping the price a hundred bucks would have guaranteed them a number slot?
That is an assumption and not a fact. They might have dropped the price and still only been number two.>>

Mark,
I agree . If I remember correctly there were some pretty attractive packages offered including
memory, printers or scanners. All in all I think the IMacs looked like a pretty good value prior to Christmas..
Its amazing to me that they could get into the top 5 at all let alone maintain it. Apple's more focused
approach was the real reason I think (vs. multiple offerings from other mfg.s)
And I almost hate to say this, but current and potential Apple customers really are looking for
something different! .....as opposed to lowball pricing.

$999.00 Rev B looks pretty darn good. In one month I don't think that there will be one new Rev B
iMac available on the face of the earth. They will be collectors items with their mezzanine slots.

I was greedy and couldn't pull the trigger @ +46 and as a result ended up selling off 80% of my aapl
on avg. around 41-1/2. Now ,naturally, I have the regrets. I will wait and see for trading opportunities.
and nurse my 20% "investment"

I did make a real investment in aapl last weekend though....bought a bto G3 from the Apple store.
I will be interested to see how this works out.

regards,pjkelly

Well, that is another angle that I should have addressed, and of course you're right. I'm not assuming that dropping the price would have been a good thing, BTW. Alomex was.
