So why does @Home want Excite? Says I to foreclose the regulators (see ORE and Denver,eg.) from using the "content" argument put forth by AOL. With Excite, the regulators now have to appear to favor one content providors backbone over the other; won't look good for them. Also, @Home still isn't going to have much revenue, and ADSL/DSL are bringing prices down even before @Home is installed so Excite provides not only revenue but "sense" that @Home is still in the current 'net game. If any of above is true then Lycos isn't necessarily next to acquire. If above in not true then: Why does @Home want Excite?
