John, Was that good news. It seems to me that Monsanto is acknowledging the fact that Roundup's patent will expire and there will be several new players to compete with in the coming years. Since terms weren't disclosed, one has to wonder the effect on Roundup sales and its contribution to earnings. Does Monsanto expect to more than compensate its loss of the U.S. Roundup monopoly with income generated by its sale of Roundup Ready seeds? If so, what about the competition with Pioneer for that market and the price wars that will be inevitable.

I haven't seen any discussion dealing with the patent expiration and the price wars for RR seeds. Will Monsanto be in a winning situation?

Just kicking around my thoughts.

Regards,
Bob
