Tellabs flagship product is the Titan line. Its role is to essentially groom all types of asynchronous traffic (DS1 - DS3) on to an synchronous optical network (SONET). The layer 2 devices by NN, ASND and CSCO are being touted to replace much of this. The manageability and flexibilty at layer 2 is powerful selling feature. Much of this is just coming out of these companies. So if Cisco is serious about selling new generation ATM core products and ultimately an optical world without Sonet then TLAB offers little in products. Just a thought.
