Gbh:
Dell has done a remarkable job of marketing and took advantage of BTO early and well. That said, I think Dell will disappoint this Q. The insiders haven't been selling without reason.(g)

Both of Dell's major client areas are cutting back. Every one of the VARs and resellers has provided weak numbers from the last quarter, which is what I expected. It is well known that Dell is scrambling to provide the sub $1,000 PC that you speak of. They're late to that party and it's crowded with competition. Incidentally, Dell's success is much more apparent in their share price than in their cash flow numbers.

I agree that business bought up market in the past, but that is changing. Budgets are shrinking and boxes are both better and cheaper. Business is pretty well networked now. A year ago, many were still prospective buyers, today, many are not. Incidentally, the unit numbers are on my side. Unit growth is declining steadily. I won;t bring up revenues. (g)
Time will tell.
Best, Earlie
