Bobo,

I own an HP 8110i CD-Writer Plus.

The problems with CD-RW media are several:

1) Before use, you must format the CD-RW disc. This can (and frequently does) take over an hour - more if you are using your computer to do anything else. Yes, you can buy pre-formatted CD-RW but - you guessed it - more expensive.

2) Expense - generally, I've seen CD-RW media sell for about $15, but have heard that you can get them for $5 each in quantity and after rebate.

3) You don't get the full 650MB. It's more like 529MB after formatting.

4) Speed - slow as molasses in the wintertime.

5) Media stability - contrary to popular belief, the shelf life of CD's is about 10 years, not 100 years - versus 5-6 years for magnetic media like Zip.

regards,

Lipo
