Platter,
Waterhouse and the other brokers are suffering from a lack of investors buying the stocks they are pushing. The investment dollars are going to the hot sectors and the brokers are missing the play.
They will try to move our dollars into the crap they are pushing.
Just one more futile attempt to control the market like they have in the past. Their influence is waning because of online brokers, online information, online boards such as SI and the lessening need for traditional brokers. They won't give up easily.
Coz

Cosmo, seems like Waterhouse having desired effect!>>>>Just spoke to Waterhouse..They now require 100% cash for Internet stocks like AMZN, UBID,LCOS, CMGI etc....However, requiremnts for other sectors were lowered...seems like The market is trying to cut their exposure/risk in the internet sector..This could benefit OS stocks.>>>>>>>

I was just checking the action in some of those InterNUTs..
Do you realise that investors were paying $189 for UBID on 12/23/98, its now at 73...also those guys were picking up AMZN at 199 on 1/8/99, today its at 121....and get this , they were buying ebay at 315 on 1/8, today its at $213...some were chasing MZON at 60 a couple week ago...today its around $18.00...So margin calls and plenty of hope and a miracle would be needed for these guys just to break even...I mean, how are you goona get a stock back up to 189 so you could just break even(UBID)...
