Just read an article that the Chinese government has ordered the head of each of their airlines to plan to be flying at the turn of the century.

They figure this will get them to make sure there will be no Y2K problems with the airlines.

Tim -

ast weeks Time magazine cover. Hey, even some of the *hardcores* I know thought it was a little too far out.

Interesting reaction. I'm a rabid anti Luce type. It was a BIG deal for me to actually buy that issue of TIME.

And I thought (particularly given the source) it was a pretty good piece. I'll re-read it, but the only significant factual innaccuracy that jumped out at me was the statement that Bob Bemer "authored" much of COBOL.

Of course, the half-page picture of the family with food stocks was inflametory, but that's to be expected from a Luce rag.
