FREE SAN WORKSHOPS WORLDWIDE!

StorageTek, SCH Technologies and Trilliant Group Take SAN Planning
Workshops Worldwide

Free Workshop Includes SAN Primer, Discussion of Management and Implementation Issues

CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 1999--StorageTek® (Storage Technology Corp., (NYSE:STK - news)), SCH Technologies and Trilliant Group, all leaders in the storage management software and services industry, today announced worldwide workshops on Storage Area Networks (SANs). Industry analysts forecast that SAN technology will increase the level of centralized data storage and help solve storage-related problems across the enterprise. The free workshops will be held throughout major cities in North America, followed by workshops in Europe, Australia and Singapore.

SAN technology is currently receiving considerable attention within the storage industry, but many organizations do not yet understand the benefits and/or impacts of SAN on the future of their organizations. According to Michael Peterson, President of Strategic Research Corporation, ''SANs will soon be the standard configuration for organizations centralizing and consolidating their servers and storage for their mission-critical applications. This free workshop is the ideal opportunity for organizations to learn more and to begin their SAN planning.''

Each of the SAN Planning Workshops will be from 8:00 am to 11:00 am, and includes breakfast. Reservations can be made by calling 513-579-0455 Extension 300 or by visiting sch.com.

SAN Planning Workshop Highlights

Storage Industry Overview -- Michael Peterson, President of
Strategic Research, is considered by many to be the "father of
SAN." Via video broadcast, Mr. Peterson will open the seminar
with an overview of the storage industry, how the issues and
technology have led to SAN and why it is not a matter of "if" but
rather "when" corporations will move to SAN.

SAN Primer -- The workshops will take an ''everything you need to

know'' approach, including terms, definitions, capabilities and

benefits.

SAN Management Considerations -- Storage allocation and
management, policy-based media management, interoperability
considerations and SAN standards will be discussed.

Implementation Considerations -- A primary goal of the workshop

program is to give attendees a comprehensive understanding of the

impact of SAN on their organizations and present guidelines for

developing a SAN plan. Attendees will receive a detailed SAN

Planning Guide, which can assist them in planning for SAN

implementation in their own environments.

In announcing the workshops, Don Kleinschnitz, Vice President of Strategy and Alliances, Multi-Platform Business Group for
StorageTek, stated, ''When you consider the monumental storage management issues IS professionals face daily, along with
the many benefits SAN technology has to offer, the excitement is understandable. But it is important to fully understand the
associated issues and how to ensure that users reap the benefits, before jumping on the bandwagon. We believe the SAN
Planning Workshops will provide the relevant information required for corporations considering SAN implementation.''

StorageTek recently announced the first dynamic backup and recovery solution for SANs from a single provider. The integrated solution, including software, storage devices, connectivity hardware and services breaks the server-centric requirement that storage must be dedicated to an individual server. The solution also lowers the total cost of ownership by eliminating the need for a system administrator to initiate and manage the backup process across multiple servers.

The full agenda and registration forms for the SAN Planning Workshop are available on the StorageTek (http://www.storagetek.com ), SCH Technologies (http://www.sch.com/san2.html ) and Trilliant Group (http://www.trilliant-group.com ) web pages.
