Edwarda, if the SEC does that you can probably count on a similar decrease for the next couple of years also, because the write-off will become an amortized asset. The question will be over what period it gets to be amortized.

From my point of view this could create a fantastic buying opportunity. I believe that NETA is pretty cheap as it is, and the changes the SEC may want do not affect cash flow, or profit or loss reported to the IRS. The only impact will be on the numbers the company reports to shareholders. So if you are right about the SEC's likely action and we see a big drop in prices as result, I think I'll have to look under all the cushions to pick up all the loose change I can, because I'll be buying every share of NETA I possibly can.
