Taro, ouch! If I had to pick a Stendhal quote on sell-side research, a I'd go with his imaginary epigram beginning chapter 27 of the Red and the Black: Service!...Ability!...Worth! Nonsense! Join a Clique! That's sell-side research in a nutshell. Who cares what your numbers are (or if they even add up) if you can put the imprimateur of a big name firm on your garbage and get CNBC, Reuters, Dow Jones, et. al. to pick it up it? If Stendhal coached the '62 Mets instead of Stengel, they might not have even won 20 games let alone 40. Come to think of it, that raises an interesting bit of baseball trivia... No major league ball club has ever won a game when managed by a deceased 19th century French novelist. That's one Fox just has to flash up on the screen next season during a blow-out.
