If that was meant as a shot at me...well, I can handle that.
Still, this thread tends to regress into techno-babble from time to time.
I feel there is a need to discuss options that face AAPL. I know we have no impact on its future...but it is entertaining, and often enlightening.
I learn more from hearing people's ideas about what COULD be than from people complaining about how iMac's wiring prevents such and such a connection. Why? Because most people are like me. They know enough to operate their computers, but want to buy something that is quick and easy to use. That's why the iMac was genius.
That's what makes Apple so appealing. After years as a MSFT user, I have finally been convinced.

Mark, Can't Lose? Anyone remember the last time T made computers?

Ouch! ATT lost a metric boatload on their last attempt at computers. They really screwed up a lot of people with messed up and abandoned deals. This is the old days, I'm talking. I think they eventually sold the whole mess off to Olivetti... big disaster all around.

OH! Does anyone know for sure if there is are serial ports on the new Towers? If there are not, you can add them with a card to the pci buss, right? This would be a hassle for a couple of my "clients" (are they clients if you don't charge?) who have large format printers and do 3d cad. Need more speed, and have expensive printer.

To me, the lack of a serial port is more serious than the lack of a floppy drive. Where do you plug your palmPilot?
