Microsoft To Ship NT Upgrade Late - WSJ

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:MSFT - news) plans to ship the final test version of Windows 2000, the upgrade for its Windows NT operating system in April, two weeks behind schedule,
the Wall Street Journal said on Tuesday.

Microsoft told the Journal it expects the product to be available commercially by the end of the year.

The company said it delayed the shipment because of quality controls. Microsoft expects to ship the final version sometime after Labor Day, the company told the paper.

Windows 2000 is expected to compete against Unix and Novell Inc (Nasdaq:NOVL - news)'s NetWare.

The company, which earns about twice as much for Windows NT compared with Windows 98, sees a major opportunity to increase revenue by making Windows 2000 the choice of businesses, rather than Windows 98.

Does anyone know the when they clear options calls. If the options I sold expired Sat. and the stock still exists in my account today, does this mean that they were not exercised, or do the market makers go through on the following business day and find any values and steel them away claiming that they were called out but just not recorded until 2 business days latter? What would happen if I sold those shares today that secured the calls?

If I still have the shares in my account the next business day after the expiring date of calls, do I still own the shares clear of any call options debit?

What is the normal way these are handled?
