: Business Wire Jan 19 1999 7:17AM Re : Netscape and ISOCOR Team to Deliver New Meta-Directory Technology; Netscape Announces New Netscape Meta-Directory 1.0 Tuesday January 19, 07:02 AM Eastern time Company Press Release Netscape and ISOCOR Team to Deliver New Meta-Directory Technology; Netscape Announces New Netscape Meta-Directory 1.0 SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 1999--ISOCOR (Nasdaq:ICOR), a leading Internet messaging and directory software developer, and Netscape Communications Corp. (Nasdaq:NSCP) Tuesday announced they will collaborate to deliver advanced meta-directory technology.
Netscape announced separately Tuesday the new Netscape(R) Meta-Directory 1.0 product suite, allowing legacy integration of corporate data into new Internet applications for Internet, Extranet and e-commerce deployments.
Under the terms of the agreement, leading directory providers Netscape and ISOCOR are working together to deliver an open standards-based meta-directory technology. The technology will be the basis for Netscape Meta-Directory 1.0, a product suite that is expected to be available later this year from Netscape.
The suite includes Netscape(R) Directory Server, the meta-directory server and a number of key connectors.
Building on its directory integration strategy, Netscape is providing the suite to help companies better compete in the Net Economy by making disparate directory information from human resource systems, databases, messaging systems, network operating system (NOS) directories and other corporate systems available to e-commerce applications.
"Netscape and ISOCOR are working together to provide a comprehensive meta-directory solution," said David Weiden, vice president of directory and security products at Netscape. "We believe this will help accelerate corporate deployment of meta-directories as customers increasingly embrace the solution as an industry standard."
ISOCOR's meta-directory product, called MetaConnect(tm), includes a "join" engine that will be a key part of the combined meta-directory platform. The join engine identifies duplicate directory records in multiple directories and automatically combines the information into a single, more complete directory entry.
The meta-directory platform will also use ISOCOR's connector technology to provide integration with a variety of information sources, including operating systems, telephony products, database applications, and others.
"With business-to-business electronic commerce expected to grow to more than 70 billion by 2001, meta-directory solutions will be a differentiating factor between success and failure for many companies," said Paul Gigg, president and chief executive officer at ISOCOR.
"Netscape's choice of ISOCOR technology as an integral component of its meta-directory solution underscores the value of our innovative and open meta-directory platform."
Netscape Meta-Directory 1.0 will allow companies to integrate and operate internal systems more efficiently, while also integrating more quickly with new e-commerce/Extranet systems as they move their businesses to the Internet.
Pricing of the suite, which includes the directory server, meta-directory server, universal LDAP, universal database and universal text connectors, is expected to begin at 3.75 per user for Extranets and 15 per user for Intranets.
Netscape's meta-directory suite is also expected to be available as an optional addition to Netscape Directory Server for Secure E-Commerce, also announced Tuesday by Netscape.
Netscape is a leading provider of software and services for businesses that want to transform the way they create and keep customers in the emerging Net Economy.
The company offers a full line of enterprise software solutions, professional services, and a leading Internet portal to help companies build, buy or outsource Internet applications that drive revenue growth, build customer loyalty, and create new levels of business efficiency. Traded on Nasdaq under the symbol NSCP, Netscape is based in Mountain View, Calif.

"Monday January 11, 07:02 AM Eastern time Company Press Release ISOCOR Announces Preliminary Fourth-Quarter and Full-Year Results SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 11, 1999--ISOCOR (Nasdaq:ICOR) Monday announced its preliminary results for the fourth quarter and full year ended Dec. 31, 1998.
These results are preliminary, subject to the company closing its books and the company's management and independent auditors completing their customary quarterly review and annual audit procedures. ISOCOR stated that it plans to report definitive results for the fourth quarter and full year 1998 during the week of Feb. 15, 1999.
Summary of Preliminary Results
The company indicated that revenues for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 1998, are expected to be between 6.7 million and 7.2 million, compared with revenues of 6.6 million in the quarter ended Dec. 31, 1997. The company expects an increasing contribution from services revenues and expects that the gross margin percentage for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 1998, will be lower than that of the quarter ended Dec. 31, 1997.
The company further expects that total operating expenses for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 1998, will be lower than those of the quarter ended Dec. 31, 1997. The company expects that the net loss and resultant net loss per share for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 1998, will be in a range which approximates to slightly exceeds the net loss for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 1997, of 1.5 million, or 0.15 net loss per share, assuming no dilution.
On a full year basis, the company indicated that 1998 revenues are expected to be between 23.0 million and 23.5 million, compared with revenues of 22.0 million in the full year ended Dec. 31, 1997. The company expects that the net loss and resultant net loss per share for the year ended Dec. 31, 1998, will be significantly lower than the net loss for the year ended Dec. 31, 1997, of 7.9 million, or .83 per share, assuming no dilution.
Paul Gigg, president and chief executive officer of ISOCOR, commented: "During the fourth quarter, our orders continued for the second consecutive quarter to exceed our revenues, resulting in an increase in our backlog in the range of 1.5 million. As I indicated previously, due to the increasing reliance of major corporations on electronic communications and the important role our products have in those communications, the nature of our business is changing to larger projects and systems implementations.
"We expect that many of our larger projects will be recognized as revenue over several quarters. We believe that this trend towards larger projects will continue. In the medium term, the positive effect of this business change should be to make our revenue stream more predictable."
Progress Against Strategic Goals
Gigg continued: "During the fourth quarter we made excellent progress on our strategic goals. In our newest initiative, we further positioned ISOCOR as a major vendor in the meta-directory market by introducing our MetaConnect family of products to several early-adopter companies. Early-adopter companies are deploying MetaConnect now, with general availability expected to be in the first calendar quarter of 1999.
"We strengthened our position in the Internet Service Provider market by releasing our N-PLEX Ultra Internet messaging server product which provides an unparalleled competitive advantage for high-end Internet service providers and telecom companies that have anywhere from 100,000 to more than a million users.
"For the corporate market, we announced a series of relationships with principal security vendors, such as Entrust, Entegrity, GTE Cybertrust, iD2, Zergo and Baltimore, for the storage of vendors' Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificates so that they may be used to verify the identity of individuals conducting electronic business across the Internet."
