Thats all accounting bullshit, look at the net earnings---before writeoffs and acquisition related charges.

I was concerned about that, too, and was about to post about it here, until I looked at the next paragraph of the press release. Basically, it says that charges for 1998 will be reduced, and new charges totalling the amount of the reduction will be taken in subsequent years, starting with 1999. So 1998 earnings will look a bit better, and the next couple of years will look marginally worse.

The net is the same either way, though, so I really doubt that this will have any effect.

And I, too, would like to hear the conference call if a replay is available. Anyone?
