IDT unit to launch telephony site By Janet Haney, CBS MarketWatch

Movers & Shakers

HACKENSACK, N.J. (CBS.MW) -- Shares of IDT jumped
22 percent Tuesday after the company said its Net2Phone
service will launch a Web shopping unit called EZSurf.

The company (IDTC) said its EZSurf site
will be powered by Internet telephony.
Telephony converts sound into electrical
signals, where it's transmitted through
cables or radio and then moved back into
sound.

IDT, based in Hackensack, N.J., said its
customers will have access to retailer
sites with information on vendors,
including payment options. Individuals can
bill their Net2Phone accounts through this
system. Customers can also contact
retailers through voice interaction in real
time, which the company hopes will ease
security fears regarding credit card
information.

"Surfers can spend up to an hour just looking for critical
information such as e-mail addresses, phone numbers and
international shipping possibilities, and EZSurf gives users
value-added content combined with Internet telephony
services to make the user's experience online significantly
easier and faster," David Greenblatt, COO of Net2Phone
said in a press release.

Shares of IDT rose 2 5/32 to 12 1/16.

IDT's Net2Phone and Click2Talk services will also be
included in EZSurf, allowing people to make calls over the
Internet. Those without computers will then be able to
receive phone calls. Net2Phone voice data is carried over the
Internet's packet switched network, where it goes to a
traditional phone "infrastructure," the company said.
EZSurf will kick off Feb 1.
